چکیده
Background and purpose: Teratological cases in insects can be of different characteristic, quite often they are bifurcations, for example antennal segments or parts the legs. The aim this paper is to report a remarkable case leg duplication Carabus violaceus L. Materials methods: In context an interdisciplinary monitoring frame conservation project on European bison (Bison bonasus (L.)) Poland carabid fauna (Carabidae) areas grazed by species was studied using pitfall traps Pszczyna forest, located Silesia Province, south town Tychy. were inside mixed fresh coniferous with domination Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). Results: Among carabids gathered teratological female specimen repeated anatomical duplications right front collected. Conclusions: incident bifurcation suggest genetic base teratology. An increased rate may have potential as bioindicator.

Historical ecology meets conservation and evolutionary genetics: a secondary contact zone between Carabus violaceus (Coleoptera, Carabidae) populations inhabiting ancient and recent woodlands in north-western Germany
Only very few cases have documented that an increase in connectivity after a period of fragmentation in ecological time has had an effect on the distribution, genetic structure and morphology of stenotopic species. In this study we present an example of clinal variability in a woodland ground beetle as a result of changes in the connectivity of a landscape during the last two centuries. The stu...
متن کاملRe-establishment of Carabus (Cathoplius) aliai Escalera, 1944 as a separate valid species (Coleoptera, Carabidae)
Carabus (Cathoplius) aliai was described as a separate species by Escalera in 1944 but since the 1950-60s it has been considered as a subspecies of Carabus (Cathoplius) stenocephalus Lucas, 1866. This downgrading was adopted after examining only a few specimens, due to their rarity in collections. In recent years, an important population of this taxon was rediscovered in the Tan-Tan area in sou...
متن کاملDiscovery of a most remarkable cave-specialized trechine beetle from southern China (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Trechinae)
Xuedytes bellus Tian & Huang, gen. et sp. n. is described from a limestone cave in Du'an Karst of Guangxi, a kingdom of cavernicolous trechine beetles in southern China. From a morphological point of view, Xuedytes Tian & Huang, gen. n. seems to be the most extremely cave-adapted trechines in the world. Superficially, it looks much like Giraffaphaenops Deuve, 2002 in general body shape, in part...
متن کاملA remarkable new species of Trirammatus Chaudoir (Coleoptera: Carabidae: Pterostichini) from the Valdivian Forest of Chile
A new species, Trirammatus torqueotrochantus is described from Caramávida, Chile. Males of this species are distinguished by unique femur-length, twisted and falcate trochanters, which are a form unlike that of any described pterostichine. Both sexes are recognizable from other species of Trirammatus by the combination of short metepisternum and bicolored legs. The species is included in Triram...
متن کاملLife-cycle and pre-imaginal morphology in Carabus of Subgenus Cathoplius C.G. Thomson, 1875 (Coleoptera: Carabidae)
The authors describe the life-cycle and pre-imaginal characters of the taxa currently ascribed to Subgenus Cathoplius C.G. Thomson, 1875, with details never provided before. Cathoplius are ground beetles adapted to live in arid environments and extreme habitats such as sub-desert areas. All of them are strictly helicophagous, both during the pre-imaginal stages and as adults, and are localized ...
